Introduced in 1988, this body carries a revised mirror mechanism specifically engineered for compatibility with the Winder CW, distinguishing it from earlier V System bodies like the 500 C/M.
Built around the modular 6x6 format, the 503 CW accepts the full range of interchangeable Carl Zeiss lenses in C, CF, CFi and CFE mounts, each fitted with a leaf shutter for flash sync at virtually any speed. The body itself pairs with interchangeable film backs (A12, A16, A24 and others), allowing mid-roll format or film-stock changes, along with interchangeable viewfinders, most commonly the folding waist-level finder for classic top-down composition.
