Condition recap

The Carl Zeiss Sonnar T 90mm f/2.8* is a short telephoto prime lens engineered for the Contax G-mount 35mm autofocus rangefinder system, including the Contax G1 and Contax G2. Suited for portrait, street, and landscape photography, it features a classic Sonnar optical design composed of 5 elements in 4 groups. Treated with Carl Zeiss T multi-coating*, the optics control internal reflections and flare while delivering micro-contrast, color fidelity, and edge-to-edge sharpness from its maximum f/2.8 aperture down to f/22.

Providing an actual focal length of 90.3mm and a 27-degree diagonal angle of view on full-frame 35mm sensors and film, this lens utilizes an 8-blade aperture diaphragm and a 1.0m minimum focusing distance. Focusing is driven mechanically via an in-body AF coupling screw, making it compatible with native Contax G bodies as well as mirrorless digital cameras via motorized or manual helicoid adapters. Housed in a metal barrel measuring 56 x 63mm and weighing 240g, it accepts standard 46mm screw-in filters and the GG-3 metal hood.
