Camistry Guarantee — Our Own Solution for Pre-Owned Photographic Equipment

At Camistry, we stand behind the quality and longevity of every piece of photographic equipment we sell. Pre-owned goods fall outside the statutory two-year warranty mandated for new products within the European Union; to bridge that gap, we developed Camistry Guarantee, a dedicated warranty programme designed to give our customers confidence and peace of mind, wherever in the world they are shopping from.

1. Warranty Coverage

The majority of our pre-owned products are backed by a 1-year Camistry Care Guarantee. Whenever an item includes Camistry Care coverage, this is clearly indicated in its product description on camistry.eu, together with the applicable terms. This commitment reflects our confidence in the quality of every item we offer and our dedication to customer satisfaction.

2. Vintage and Professionally Refurbished Items

Products classified as vintage — items more than 20 years old, measured from their original release date — are, as a general rule, not eligible for Camistry Care coverage, owing to their age and the natural degradation of their components.

An exception applies to vintage items that have undergone professional refurbishment or servicing by our expert technicians. Where this is the case, the product description will clearly display the Camistry Care badge along with the specific warranty terms that apply.

3. Warranty Period

Camistry Care coverage runs for one year from the date of delivery, unless otherwise specified. For premium or fully overhauled items, we may extend this to 2 or 3 years; any such extension will always be explicitly stated in the item's description.

4. Worldwide Coverage

Camistry Guarantee is a worldwide warranty. Regardless of your delivery location, your item is covered under the same terms and conditions described in this policy.

Please note, however, that outbound return shipping and any customs duties, import taxes, or related administrative fees incurred when sending an item back to us for warranty service are the customer's responsibility. Once a claim has been approved, our team will provide clear instructions on how to prepare and ship your return.

5. What Is Covered

Should your item develop an operational defect during the warranty period under normal conditions of use, Camistry Care provides one of the following remedies, depending on technical feasibility:

  • Repair — We will restore the item to full working order using high-grade components, at no cost to you.
  • Replacement — If repair is not feasible, we will provide a like-for-like replacement of equivalent condition and value.
  • Refund — If neither repair nor an equivalent replacement is possible, we will issue a full refund upon receipt of the returned item.

6. Shipping Costs

As outlined in Section 4, return shipping costs and any applicable customs duties or import taxes are the customer's responsibility. We recommend using a trackable, insured shipping method to ensure your item reaches us safely, and we are happy to advise on the best options for your location.

Please note: shipping and customs requirements may vary depending on the destination and origin country. We encourage customers to check local regulations before initiating a return.

7. Exclusions & Consumable Components

Given the mechanical nature and age of photographic equipment, certain components are subject to natural wear from light exposure, age, or mechanical friction. The following are generally not covered under Camistry Care:

  • Photosensitive & Metering Cells — Depletable components such as selenium cells, CdS (Cadmium Sulfide) photoresistors, or legacy light-metering sensors, which may experience natural output drift, reduced sensitivity, or exhaustion over time.
  • High-Wear Mechanical & Sealing Parts — Consumable elements subject to regular friction or degradation, including light seals (foam or velvet), mirror dampening pads, shutter curtains, rubber focus grips, and drive belts.
  • Batteries & Power Cells — Removable batteries, internal secondary cells, and memory-backup capacitors.
  • Accidental Damage & Misuse — Damage resulting from drops, impacts, liquid exposure, sand or dust ingress, battery acid leakage or corrosion, or improper storage or handling.
  • Cosmetic Condition — The item must be returned in a condition comparable to its state at the time of purchase. While minor signs of careful use are expected, significant cosmetic damage incurred after purchase may void coverage.
  • Unauthorized Modifications — Any attempt at third-party repair, disassembly, or technical modification will immediately void the warranty.

8. How to Make a Claim

To initiate a warranty claim, please contact our customer service team at info@camistry.eu, including:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • Clear photographic or video evidence of the defect

Our technical team will review your claim and provide detailed instructions for return shipment and next steps.
