The Yashica T4D is a compact 35mm point-and-shoot camera produced by Kyocera in the 1990s, built around a fixed Carl Zeiss T Tessar 35mm f/3.5* lens, a four-element design known for sharpness and accurate color rendition, aided by Zeiss T multi-coating* that limits flare and reflections. Focusing relies on an infrared active autofocus, paired with DX-coded film reading from ISO 25 to 3200. The body offers a splash-resistant construction, a built-in pop-up flash with red-eye reduction and fill-flash modes, and on the "D" variant a quartz date back for imprinting date onto the negative. Exposure is fully programmed automatic, governed by an electromagnetic shutter ranging roughly 1/8 to 1/700 sec. Its compact size and optical performance, comparable to larger SLR systems, made it a favored companion among documentary and fashion photographers seeking a discreet, high-quality compact.
