Plustek OpticFilm 7300 is a dedicated 35mm film and slide scanner built around a fixed-focus optical path with a 7200 dpi hardware resolution, which translates to roughly a 47 megapixel file from a full frame of 24x36mm — enough to resolve grain on most emulsions. The CCD sensor works at 48-bit colour depth and delivers a 3.4 Dmax dynamic range, useful headroom for dense slide film and the shadow areas of colour negative.
Illumination comes from a LED light source, so there is no warm-up time and colour temperature stays consistent between scans. Connection is via USB 2.0, with a film strip holder and a mounted slide holder feeding the transport manually.
The unit ships as a compact desktop scanner in the classic vertical Plustek body, and is designed to run with SilverFast and QuickScan software for archiving negatives, digitising slides and darkroom-free film workflow.
