The Voigtländer Zoomar 36–82mm is a manual-focus zoom lens designed for 35mm SLR systems, representing one of the earliest commercially produced zoom lenses. It features a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture across the zoom range, enabling consistent exposure control and viewfinder brightness. The optical design uses a multi-group, multi-element construction engineered to maintain image resolution throughout focal length changes. Focusing and zooming are controlled via a single push-pull mechanism, allowing continuous focal length adjustment. The lens incorporates a fully manual aperture ring with precise click stops and a minimum focusing distance optimized for general-purpose use. Built with an all-metal barrel, the Zoomar reflects precision mechanical tolerances and robust construction typical of early professional optics developed in collaboration with Voigtländer.
