The Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is a standard zoom lens designed for Canon APS-C DSLR cameras with the EF-S mount, providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of approximately 29-216mm. Its versatile zoom range covers wide-angle to telephoto applications.
The optical construction consists of 16 elements in 12 groups, incorporating aspherical elements to improve image quality and reduce optical aberrations throughout the zoom range. The lens features a variable maximum aperture of f/3.5-5.6 and a 6-blade circular diaphragm for smooth out-of-focus rendering.
An integrated Image Stabilizer (IS) provides up to 4 stops of stabilization, enhancing handheld shooting performance. Autofocus is driven by a DC micro motor (original version), delivering reliable focusing for still photography. The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 0.45m, a maximum magnification of 0.21×, and accepts 67mm filters. Its compact construction makes it well suited as a general-purpose zoom for the Canon EF-S system.
