The Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 is a standard zoom lens designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. It covers a 28–75mm focal length with a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. Optical construction includes 17 elements in 13 groups with specialized low-dispersion and high-refractive elements to control aberrations and maintain resolution across the frame.

Autofocus is driven by a VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torsional Drive) linear motor, providing fast, precise, and quiet focus performance with reliable subject tracking. The lens supports full AF/AE compatibility with Sony bodies and maintains consistent performance during zooming and focusing.

Diaphragm design uses 9 rounded blades for smooth out-of-focus rendering. Minimum focus distance is 0.18 m (7.1 in) at 28mm and 0.33 m (13 in) at 75mm, yielding 0.31× maximum magnification. Physical attributes include a moisture-resistant construction, filter thread of 67 mm, and an internal zoom/focus mechanism that does not extend external barrel length.

The lens supports full-frame imaging while maintaining compact dimensions and balanced handling on small to medium mirrorless bodies. It provides consistent optical performance throughout the range, suitable for stills and video workflows.
