The Fujifilm X100 is the compact that launched the X-series in 2011. It pairs a 12.3MP APS-C CMOS sensor with a fixed Fujinon 23mm f/2 lens, equivalent to 35mm in full frame terms, a classic focal length for street, travel and documentary work. The Hybrid Viewfinder switches between an optical finder with framing overlay and a full electronic view. The leaf shutter allows flash sync at high shutter speeds, and the built-in ND filter lets you keep wide apertures in bright light. Handling is fully analogue in spirit, with a dedicated aperture ring, shutter speed dial and exposure compensation dial, set into a magnesium alloy top plate. Shoots RAW and JPEG, with film simulation modes such as Provia, Velvia and Astia, plus 720p HD video. A rewarding camera for photographers who prefer a fixed lens and a tactile, deliberate way of shooting.
