La Fujifilm X-E4 è una fotocamera digitale mirrorless dotata del sensore APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4, con una risoluzione di 26,1 megapixel. Utilizza un design retroilluminato e il filtro colore X-Trans proprietario di Fujifilm, che riduce l'effetto moiré senza la necessità di un filtro passa-basso ottico.
La fotocamera è costruita attorno al processore X-Processor 4, che consente un funzionamento ad alta velocità, tra cui scatti a raffica fino a 8 fps con l'otturatore meccanico e fino a 20 fps con l'otturatore elettronico (o 30 fps con un ritaglio 1,25x).
La X-E4 registra video fino a 4K/30p (8 bit interni, 10 bit 4:2:2 tramite HDMI) e supporta il Full HD a 240 fps per la ripresa in slow motion. La fotocamera include la registrazione F-Log e offre modalità di simulazione pellicola. È dotata di un mirino elettronico OLED da 2,36 milioni di punti con ingrandimento 0,62x e di un LCD touchscreen inclinabile da 3,0 pollici e 1,62 milioni di punti, che può ruotare di 180 gradi verso l'alto.
