Presenta una lunghezza focale di 90 mm, offrendo una prospettiva compressa e capacità di messa a fuoco selettiva adatte alla ritrattistica e alla fotografia di dettaglio su pellicola 35 mm. La formula ottica include 5 elementi in 4 gruppi, ottimizzati per nitidezza, contrasto e fedeltà cromatica.
L'autofocus è controllato elettronicamente tramite il corpo macchina Contax G, con messa a fuoco motorizzata. La regolazione manuale della messa a fuoco è possibile tramite i comandi di messa a fuoco del corpo macchina, poiché l'obiettivo stesso non dispone di una ghiera di messa a fuoco meccanica.
