The camera has been film-tested and is fully functional, except for the slower shutter speeds below 1/30s, which are unreliable and result in extended exposure times. It performs well at standard speeds but would definitely benefit from a CLA (cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment).

Lightmeter works correctly, spacing and advance are precise.

The taking lens is very clean with no haze, fungus or significant dust, while the finder lens shows some minor haze, not affecting viewing quality or - obviously - picture quality.

The Rolleiflex 3.5F is a medium format twin-lens reflex (TLR) film camera that uses 120 roll film to produce 6×6 cm square images. Introduced in the late 1950s by Franke & Heidecke, it represents one of the most refined models in the Rolleiflex line, combining mechanical precision with high-quality optics. It features a fixed viewing and taking lens configuration, a waist-level reflex finder, and fully manual exposure operation.

The taking lens on the 3.5F is a Carl Zeiss Planar 75mm f/3.5, 5-element designs known for sharp rendering and good contrast. The viewing lens matches in focal length and is mechanically coupled for accurate focusing via a ground glass screen with a central split-image or microprism aid, depending on the version. The leaf shutter is a Synchro-Compur, offering speeds from 1 second to 1/500s plus Bulb, and supports flash synchronization via PC socket with M and X sync modes. Aperture and shutter speed are adjusted using twin dials with coupled EV scale linkage. Film advance is controlled by a crank mechanism that simultaneously advances the frame, cocks the shutter, and resets the frame counter. The camera includes a built-in exposure meter (Selenium cell, uncoupled in earlier units, later coupled in some versions) and an automatic first-frame positioning system. The body is primarily metal with leatherette covering, and the camera weighs around 1.2 kg, offering a compact but solid build relative to its format.
