The lens is free of haze, fungus, and any significant defects. There is some minor dust and a hair wich are visible behind the front element, but this do not affect image quality at all.

The sensor shows minor spots when photographing uniform surfaces at closed apertures, as seen in the sample images shot at f/11. These are easily removable in post-processing and not noticeable in most situations.

All buttons and dials function flawlessly. The LCD display has no panel defects or major marks, but shows some degradation of the anti-reflective coating. This does not affect viewing comfort when the screen is on and is a common issue with the Typ 109.

The Leica D-Lux (Typ 109) is a fixed-lens compact camera built around a 12.8-megapixel (effective) Four Thirds CMOS sensor with a multi-aspect ratio design (4:3, 3:2, 16:9, and 1:1), delivering solid image quality and relatively shallow depth of field for a compact form factor.

It features a fast Leica DC Vario-Summilux 24–75mm equivalent f/1.7–2.8 zoom lens with optical image stabilization, offering strong low-light and subject isolation performance across the zoom range. The lens is non-interchangeable but optically well-matched to the sensor.

Autofocus is contrast-detect with 49 AF points, supporting face detection and subject tracking. Continuous shooting is available up to 11 fps (mechanical shutter), and it supports RAW (DNG) capture. ISO sensitivity ranges from 200–12500 (extendable to 100–25600), with good control over noise at moderate ISOs.

The D-Lux Typ 109 includes a built-in 2.76M-dot electronic viewfinder and a fixed 3.0-inch LCD screen (921k dots). It records 4K video at 30 fps (100 Mbps, MP4), with 8MP still frame extraction, and full HD up to 60 fps. Manual exposure controls are available for both stills and video. Built-in Wi-Fi with NFC allows wireless image transfer and remote control via Leica’s app. The camera includes a physical aperture ring, shutter speed dial, and customizable function buttons, offering tactile manual control in a compact body (approx. 393g with battery).
