The Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark III is a premium compact digital camera equipped with a 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor (22.3 x 14.9 mm), paired with Canon’s DIGIC 7 image processor. It is the first model in the G-series to incorporate an APS-C sensor, offering DSLR-level image quality in a portable form factor. The camera supports both JPEG and 14-bit RAW capture, with ISO sensitivity ranging from 100 to 25600.
The built-in lens is a 15–45mm f/2.8–5.6 zoom, equivalent to 24–72mm in 35mm terms. It consists of 9 elements in 8 groups, including 3 aspherical elements to maintain sharpness and control optical aberrations throughout the zoom range. Optical Image Stabilization (IS) is integrated into the lens system, providing up to 4 stops of shake compensation. The lens uses an internal stepping motor for fast and quiet autofocus, and minimum focusing distance is 10 cm at the wide end.
Autofocus is achieved using Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF system, which enables fast phase-detection autofocus across a large portion of the frame, including face detection and subject tracking. Continuous shooting is available at up to 7 fps with AF tracking, or 9 fps with fixed focus. Shutter speeds range from 30 seconds to 1/2000s (mechanical) and up to 1/8000s using the electronic shutter.
