The Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM is a pancake-style prime lens designed exclusively for Canon’s EF-M mount mirrorless cameras. It features a 22mm focal length, equivalent to 35mm on APS-C sensors, making it a versatile wide-normal lens well-suited for street, travel, and everyday photography.
The optical construction includes 7 elements in 6 groups, with one aspherical element to reduce spherical aberrations and improve edge-to-edge sharpness. The lens delivers f/2 maximum aperture, enabling strong low-light performance and shallow depth of field control while maintaining a compact physical profile.
Focusing is driven by a stepping motor (STM) system, providing smooth and near-silent autofocus, especially beneficial for video recording. Full-time manual focus override is also supported, offering precision for still shooters when needed.
Physically, the EF-M 22mm is extremely compact (approx. 23.7mm in length) and lightweight (about 105g), with a durable metal mount and a minimalist design. The front element supports 43mm filters.
