The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera (original model) is a compact digital film camera featuring a Super 16mm-sized image sensor with an effective resolution of 1920×1080. It offers 13 stops of dynamic range, providing a wide latitude for color grading and post-production flexibility.

The camera utilizes an active Micro Four Thirds (MFT) lens mount, allowing compatibility with a broad range of MFT lenses and, via adapters, access to various other lens systems. It supports recording in Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) and lossless compressed CinemaDNG RAW formats, catering to professional workflows.

Designed with portability in mind, the camera's compact form factor makes it suitable for handheld shooting and tight spaces. Its magnesium alloy chassis ensures durability while maintaining a lightweight profile.

The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera includes a 3.5-inch LCD screen for monitoring and menu navigation. It offers various connectivity options, including a micro HDMI output, 3.5mm audio input and output, and a 12V DC power input.
