The Sony α7 III is a full-frame mirrorless camera featuring a 24.2-megapixel back-illuminated (BSI) Exmor R CMOS sensor with a wide dynamic range and strong low-light performance. Paired with the BIONZ X processor and front-end LSI, it delivers fast processing, 14-bit RAW output, and native ISO from 100–51200 (expandable to 50–204800).
Autofocus utilizes a hybrid system with 693 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection points, covering 93% of the frame. It supports Real-time Eye AF and subject tracking, with continuous shooting up to 10 fps using mechanical or silent electronic shutter.
The camera records 4K UHD video using full sensor width with 6K oversampling, offering 8-bit 4:2:0 internal and clean 8-bit 4:2:2 HDMI out. S-Log2, S-Log3, and HLG profiles are included for flexible post-production workflows. Full HD is available up to 120 fps.
It features 5-axis in-body image stabilization rated for 5 stops, dual SD card slots (one UHS-II), and a large-capacity NP-FZ100 battery rated for approx. 710 shots (CIPA). The 2.36M-dot OLED EVF and 3.0-inch tilting touchscreen (922k dots) support intuitive control.
Connectivity includes USB-C (USB 3.1 Gen1), micro HDMI, headphone and mic jacks, Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth. The magnesium alloy body is dust and moisture resistant, with a robust design for professional use. The α7 III uses the Sony E-mount, compatible with both native FE and APS-C lenses.
